The Affordable Care Act has made preventive care more accessible and affordable for many Americans and established the Health Insurance Marketplace. You can compare different plans and explore any free or low-cost programs you may qualify for, including Medicaid (SoonerCare) and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). When you use the Marketplace you may be able to get lower costs on your monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs. Once you fill out an application, you will be able to find out how much you can save.

Every plan in the Marketplace offers ten essential health benefits, including preventative or wellness services, emergency services, hospitalization, ambulatory patient services, maternity/newborn care, prescriptions, mental health services, pediatric services, substance use disorder services and habilitative services and devices.

You can compare your options and find a health plan that meets your needs and fits your budget. Health insurance companies can’t deny you coverage or charge you more due to pre-existing conditions and they can’t charge women and men different premiums.

Medicaid Expansion

Starting June 1, 2021 (for coverage that will begin on July 1), Oklahoma will open enrollment of SoonerCare to more low-income residents ages 19-64 whose income is at or below 138% of the Federal Poverty Level. This means you can receive many high-quality healthcare services including annual wellness visits, birth control, vaccinations and more at greatly reduced prices or at no-cost to you.
